Rumble in Ibadan as 3SC host Zamfara Posted on Tuesday, Jan 5th 2010 Globacom Premier League action returns this weekend across the nation after the Xmas and New Year holidays. Nigeria Football League (NFL) Head of Competitions, Mr. Tunji Babalola confirmed to www.shootingstarssc.com that the postponed Week 11 matches will now be played this weekend while fixtures for Week 13 must be honoured next Wednesday. For this weekend’s line up of matches, the attraction for soccer fans in Ibadan is the fixture between Shooting Stars and visiting Zamfara United FC of Gusau slated for the Liberty Stadium. Shooting Stars are currently at the bottom of the Glo Premier League log, and are still without a substantive coach after Phillip Boamah was relieved of his duties last week. However, it is understood that Nigeria ex-international midfielder and General Manager of 3SC, Mutiu Adepoju is expected to take charge for the crucial encounter in his capacity as the Technical Director of the team. A win for the Stars will be a welcome development that could usher in hope for the team’s disenchanted supporters as the long road to glory begins to unwind. With no serious injury concerns to report, Adepoju is expected to field his strongest squad for the game, and 3SC fans can expect to see the prolific striking trio of Timothy Idogbe, Hakeem Adebisi and Tope Orelope in action. New acquisitions like David Abidoye and Uche Nwofor are also on line to drill the boys from Gusau and give Ibadan fans something to celebrate at the end of the weekend encounter. For fans attending the game, the Liberty Stadium gates will be thrown open as from 12pm , while entrance fees have been pegged at N500, N200 and N150 In other Globacom Premier League matches billed for this weekend, league leaders Enyimba host defending champions Bayelsa United at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba . The People’s Elephant stormed back to the top of the premiership following their 1-0 away defeat of Warri Wolves last month, and are favoured to pick up the points against Bayelsa, who have struggled with form this season. In Ilorin , Justin Tenger leads his Kwara United side out against visiting Rangers International of Enugu. A win for United could take the team back to the top four bracket on the log, while the visitors will be hoping for a good result to consolidate on their top three ranking. Elsewhere, Pillars welcome Gateway to the ancient city of Kano with the sole objective of claiming all three points at stake. It is battle royale in Port Harcourt as Dolphins host in-form Warri Wolves at the Liberation Stadium, while a resurgent Sharks battle Ocean Boys for the three points at stake. In other fixtures, Niger Tornadoes are guests of Wikki Tourists in Bauchi as Enugu Rangers visit Ilorin for a date with Kwara United. In Akure, it’s Sunshine Stars against Ranch Bees. Heartland are guests of Lobi Stars in Makurdi while Kaduna United play host to Gombe United at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
