Oluwaniyi targets more Super Eagles caps Posted on Tuesday, March 9th 2010
Shooting Stars first choice goalkeeper Segun Oluwaniyi says he’s looking forward to winning more caps with the national team in future.
The towering shot-stopper was in goal for Nigeria last Wednesday as a make-shift Super Eagles mauled DR Congo 5-2 in an international friendly at the Abuja National Stadium, making a series of outstanding saves to post a memorable debut for himself. Two other 3SC players – Nofiu Taiwo and Uche Nwafor featured for Nigeria in the match, which was arranged to prepare the home-based Eagles for the upcoming CHAN qualifier against Niger Republic.
“I was very delighted playing making my debut for the national side,” said Oluwaniyi..
“It has always been my dream to play in the Super Eagles, and I believe the time has come for me to prove my mettle.”.
The former Enugu Rangers and Dolphins goalkeeper expressed optimism that if given more opportunities to don the national colours in the near future, he’ll make adequate use of the chance to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with.
