Ojo-oba Cup: 3SC Under-20 start off on a bright note   Posted on Thursday, Dec.3rd 2009

Defending champions of the Ojo Oba Cup, Shooting Stars Under-20 team last weekend kicked off this year’s edition with a 3-0 bashing of Supreme FC in a preliminary round match decided at the Olubadan Stadium.

The opening goal was scored midway into the first half by Lukman Tijani as 3SC led
1-0  at half time.

Two minutes after the restart Fatai Soyemi crowned 3SC’s dominance when he fired home the second goal. Efforts by Supreme to claw their way back was frustrated by the solid back-line of Shooting Stars.

The game seemed headed for a 2-0 ending but 3SC’s Ismaila Oladeji had other ideas. In the dying seconds of the game he completed the rout to ensure a comprehensive victory for the Oluyole Warriors.

Chief Coach of the side and former Shooting Stars striker, Babatunde “Zico” Odubola said the exercise was a good one for his boys, stressing that his mission this term is to build a solid side capable of competing in all competitions.

“The Ojo Oba Cup competition is a good exercise for my boys. We are coming on strong with every match and our target is to retain the trophy and compete favourably in the state FA Cup with a view to representing Oyo State at the national level of the competition,” he said.

The team squares up with Morning Star FC on Friday, December 4 in continuation of the preliminary stages of the Ojo Oba Cup. 3SC Under-20 team are the defending champions of the annual tournament.
