Nworfor on target as 3SC edge Heartland  Posted on Thursday, Jan.14th 2010

Shooting Stars won their second consecutive match on Wednesday with a well deserved 1-0 defeat of visiting Heartland FC of Owerri in a Week 13 Glo premiership match decided at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

Newly signed striker Uche Nworfor, who was recently signed from Anambra Pillars, struck after 37 minutes to send 3SC’s teeming fans into raptures and shoot the team further up on the log.

Shooting Stars’ Media Officer Jubril Arowolo reports that Wednesday’s encounter was tension filled, and kept the sizeable crowd on the edge of their seats for the full duration of the match.

The visiting Naze Millionaires lived up to the billing as a time-tested side and had their own chances of making hay but the rock solid defence-line of the hosts denied them of goals.

Centre referee for the game, Ibrahim Sheu from Niger State also did a yeoman’s job in ensuring fair officiating of the game.

Shooting Stars interim coach, Mutiu Adepoju attributed the midweek victory to hardwork, determination and ability of the players to adhere to instructions.

“Today’s victory is an important one for us. But there’s no magic about it. This was just down to hardwork, determination and the willingness of the players to adhere to instructions,” he said.

With the midweek win over Heartland, 3SC have now amassed 16 points from 13 matches, with a goal difference of minus one.
