Chairman of the newly-instituted management board of 3SC, Jossy Lad has told
www.shootingstarssc.com that the immediate objective of the board is to ensure that the club avoids the drop to the National first division.

With only four matches to the end of the Glo Premier League, Shooting Stars are just three places above the drop zone, and a defeat at Bayelsa United this weekend could see the club plummeting down the log again, a situation the erstwhile Chief Coach is visibly worried about.

“I cannot imagine another away defeat at this time. That would put us in a very precarious situation.

“However I am believing that we can achieve a good result if we work harder,” he said.

He played down the club’s Federation Cup defeat by JUTH FC during the week
in Minna, but hopes the development would foster concentration on the part of players and technical crew of the team.

“Our FA Cup loss was just one of those things in football. We did our possible best to carry the day, but our opponents were luckier. But we have since put that defeat behind us and now we have to forge ahead and make the best of the remainder of our league campaign,” he noted.

Lad, who was appointed to boss a five-man 3SC board late last month, further
reiterated his management’s focus, which is to steer the team to safety as the league approaches an exciting climax.

“For now our plans are centred around ensuring that Shooting Stars maintain its Premier League status at the end of the season,” he said.

“It is only when this is achieved that we can start talking about next season. Shooting Stars is a big brand in Nigerian football, and playing in the premiership is the only way we can assert our brand name and push for further recognition on the continent,” he added.

3SC’s five-man board was inaugurated on May 24 by the Oyo State Commissioner of Sports Honourable Joe Ayoola Makanjuola.
