Idogbe faces late fitness test Posted on Thursday, Dec.3rd 2009
Shooting Stars’ leading striker Timothy Idogbe is a major doubt for Saturday’s top-of-the-bill Glo Premier League clash at home to Rangers International of Enugu.
The bustling forward has not tasted action in the nine-week old premiership due to an eye injury and looks set to miss this weekend’s high-profile encounter unless he passes a late fitness test.
Team Manager Ajibade Babalade confirmed to www.shootingstarssc.com that the former Union Bank star resumed training this week, and stands a chance of featuring in the match provided the team doctor certifies him fit.
“Timothy has been training vigorously for this match and from all indications he might make the team. But everything still rests with the doctor. If he gets the doctor’s nod, then he would likely be in the starting line up, or at worst, make the bench,” said the Nigeria ex-international.
Idogbe, who scored 15 goals in all competitions for 3SC last season, has yet to see action this term after suffering an eye injury during a pre-season Friendly against Gateway FC of Abeokuta .
Meanwhile, Babalade disclosed that there are no injuries or suspension worries as all regular players of the team are super fit and ready to go to battle against the Flying Antelopes.
