Ibadan trembles for 3SC, Enyimba cracker Posted on Tuesday, March 9th 2010
League leaders Enyimba are to undergo one of their most difficult tasks when they visit Shooting Stars for a Week 23 Glo Premier League fixture billed for the newly-refurbished Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba today.
Shooting Stars are playing their first match at Adamasingba this season after the NPL board lifted a ban on the Lekan Salami Stadium last week.
3SC’s General Manager Mutiu Adepoju is hopeful the ground will bring better luck to the team as they aim to improve on their league standing.
“Renovation work has been completed at the Stadium and now that the board has given us the green light to play our home matches there, we are hoping to start off by beating Enyimba on Wednesday,” he enthused.
Enyimba triumphed 1-0 through Osas Idehen’s goal when both teams clashed in the first round in October last year.
Before now Shooting Stars had prosecuted their last 11 home matches at the Liberty Stadium, winning six and drawing five.
Enyimba currently sit atop the Glo Premiership table with 40 points from 22 matches while 3SC are 15th with 27 points from the same number of matches.
In other matches to be played today, Heartland would be determined to halt their poor form when they host Warri Wolves in a tricky fixture at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. In Ilorin it’s Kwara United against Dolphins in a battle of newly promoted teams while second-placed Kano Pillars visit Zamfara United in a northern derby.
Elsewhere, basement team Sharks confront Gateway FC; Lobi Stars are at home to Sunshine Stars; Wikki Tourists take a tour to Yenagoa to play Ocean Boys as Rangers International welcome Kaduna United to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The match between Ranch Bees and Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna also promises to be a cracker as both teams have enjoyed fine form lately.
