Glo League on recess Posted on Friday, Oct.23rd 2009
No local premiership action will be seen for the next three weeks as the Globacom Premier League goes on break. The FIFA U-17 World Cup takes centre stage across the nation from this weekend and runs between October 24 and November 15.
According to Nigeria Football League (NFL) Head of Competitions, Tunji Babalola, Glo premiership action resumes on Wednesday, 18th November, three days after the closing ceremony of the global championship.
Cup holders Nigeria confront Germany in the opening match of the tournament in Abuja on Saturday.
The Glo Premier League kicked off on September 20 and is due to end in April next year. After five rounds of matches in the current season, Lobi Stars of Makurdi lead the pack of 20 teams with nine points. Enyimba International come a close second on the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference.
After a shaky start, Shooting Stars are now placed 16th on the log with four points after beating Wikki Tourists 1-0 and pulling a 1-1 draw against Dolphins.
