Don’t lose faith, Adepoju tells 3SC fans        Posted on Monday, Dec 28th 2009

Shooting Stars General Manager Mutiu Adepoju has told the club’s supporters not to lose faith in the team’s ability to survive its present situation and emerge as a notable force this season.

3SC has plunged down to the bottom of the Premier League after 11 matches, resulting in fervent calls for team reorganization and a shift in focus. But the Nigeria ex-international believes the situation can change for the better, provided 3SC officials and players work extra hard to turn the tide.

“It’s unfortunate that we find ourselves in this position, but that’s football and it could happen to anyone. We know how the fans feel and we are doing our very best to ensure that we turn the table.

He outlined his plans to ensure a turn-around of fortune, and these include the introduction of extra training schedules and a change in players’ attitude.

“At the moment we are working hard. We are working on the players to improve on their fitness and introduce a new team mentality,” Adepoju disclosed to www.shootingstarssc.com

He expressed the confidence that the club’s newly signed striker David Abidoye is worthy of adorning the club’s colours, promising that the former Heartland hit man will start delivering soon.

“Abidoye is a good player. He needs just a little time to get used to the system and start firing. Same goes for the other player we acquired from Anambra United,” he said.

Top striker Tope Orelope echoed Adepoju’s views, stressing that the players know what is at stake and are determined to go the extra mile to make things happen.

“No one is amused about what is going on here. We began the season in high hopes but after 11 matches we are last on the table.

“Surely we cannot go on like this. The solution to the problem lies in our hands. We have resolved to keep fighting, and I’m optimistic we shall turn the table when the league resumes in two weeks time,” he enthused.

Meanwhile, the team returned from the Christmas holidays to resume training on Monday morning ahead of the January 9 resumption date of the Premier League.
