Adepoju upbeat despite Dolphins defeat Posted on Tuesday, March 9th 2010
General Manager and interim Chief Coach of Shooting Stars, Mutiu Adepoju says there is no need to press the panic button in spite of last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Dolphins in Port Harcourt.
He assured the club’s teeming supporters that the management and players are doing everything in their capacity to ensure that the club regains its enviable position in Nigerian football.
“It must have been painful losing to Dolphins by that margin but I want to appeal to our fans not to lose sleep. There’s no need to panic because we’ll definitely reach our goal, which is to start posting better results and of course retain our premiership status,” he disclosed.
Stars lost to the Port Harcourt-based side last Saturday in a well-contested game that could have gone either way.
Dolphins scored the opening goal when 3SC goalkeeper Laide Okanlawon deflected Sunday Mba’s header into his own net three minutes after the restart following a clumsy clearance. Mba was on target again in the 74th minute when he outsmarted Saburi Omoyayi to connect an indirect free kick.
