Adepoju plans 3SC overhaul …as eight players get the boot                  Posted on Monday, Feb 15th 2010

Shooting Stars could be up for some overhauling in the ongoing midseason transfer period, the team’s General Manager Mutiu Adepoju has revealed.

3SC moved three places up the Glo premiership log after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat of Gateway FC, but Adepoju is far from satisfied with the team’s standard of play so far, a situation he plans to change in the shortest time possible.

“Plans are ongoing to inject the team with fresh legs as we aim to compete well in the remaining matches of the season. To this end we are already negotiating with players whose names I‘ll not reveal here for strategic reasons,” he said.

He further disclosed that the contracts of certain players have been terminated as their services are no longer required.

“In the same vein we are offloading eight players for un-productivity. This becomes necessary as we are determined to improve on our status in the league and justify the trust and loyalty of our financiers, fans and well-wishers alike.”

The sacked players are Jimmy Bello (goalkeeper), Odion Obazee, Lekan Ayodeji, Shuaib Mohammed, Akeem Ibrahim, Emmanuel Ikhimim, Folorunsho Abiodun and Azuka Okubor.

Shooting Stars continue their quest for league honours when they confront Gateway United FC in the corresponding fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta this weekend.
