3SC shoot down Kaduna United Posted on Wednesday,Nov. 18th 2009
Shooting Stars returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a stunning 3-1 bashing of visiting Kaduna United in a Week Six Globacom League tie decided at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan .
A brace in the opening half from Hakeem Adebisi and a third by Tope Orelope late in the second half secured Oluyole Warriors’ first big win of the season and gave their teeming fans a lot to cheer about.
The game began at a very slow pace with Kaduna United intent on playing for a draw. But after 15 minutes their wall of resistance began to crack when Adebisi struck the opening goal. Adebisi’s effort seemed to ginger the visitors who came out of their defensive shell to mount their own attacking foray.
Their efforts duly paid off six minutes later when Babangida Shuaibu beat 3SC goalkeeper segun oluwaniyi to restore parity for Kaduna United.
But their joy was short-lived as Adebisi hit target again eight minutes later to push Shooting Stars back in front. It was Adebisi’s third goal of the season following his lone strike against Wikki Tourists in Week Four.
The home side led 2-1 at half time as Kaduna United failed to penetrate 3SC’s solid back-line.
Encouraged by their fans and well-wishers, Shooting Stars resumed the second stanza with renewed zeal, and pinned the visitors to their own half of the pitch before Tope Orelope grabbed the third goal on 71 minutes.
By this victory, 3SC have moved three steps up the league ladder having amassed seven points in six matches.
This weekend the stars pursue more league points when they visit Lobi Stars in Makurdi.
