3SC storm Oshogbo for league points         Posted on Friday, Dec.19th 2008

The die is cast for Saturday’s crucial National First Division league tie between Ila Orangun FC and visiting Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.

The Week Nine encounter is slated for the Oshogbo Township Stadium and kick off time is 4pm. The last time 3SC visited the same venue to play against Prime FC at the start of the campaign they earned a goalless draw.

Ila Orangun , who have so far won two games following their 1-0 defeat of Insurance on Wednesday, will be looking for a win to improve on their 12th position on the league table.

A win for the Oluyole Warriors on the other hand, offers the former African champions an opportunity to overtake Dolphins at the summti of Group B. This weekend Dolphins are guests of Bussdor FC who are locked on the same number of points with Shooting Stars.

Some of 3SC’s players have raised hopes of a good showing in Oshogbo following the midweek defeat they suffered against Gabros in Nnewi.

Enterprising midfielder Idris Arowolo, who was voted MVP in last weekend’s game against Bussdor told the club’s website that the team has a big chance to win in Oshogbo.

“I think we have a chance to make an impact this season, and that must start with a big win against Ila Orangun” he said.

Stand-in captain Saburi Omoyayi will miss the trip to Ila Orangun but stressed that the time has come for Shooting to rise up to the occasion.

“I am disappointed that I will not be part of the team to play against Ila, but I am optimistic that we will return to Ibadan with a good result,” the former Gateway of Abeokuta defender promised.

Leading goal-scorer Timothy Idogbe added: “We will keep working hard to ensure that we sustain the momentum. We have reached a stage where we can’t afford to slip up, and am sure we are up to it.”
