Stars, Ila share the spoils              Posted on Monday, Dec. 22nd 2008

Shooting Stars ran away with a valuable point after posting a credible 1-all draw against Ila Orangun in a Week 9 game played in Oshogbo last Saturday.

The Oluyole Warriors have thus maintained their top form in the National First Division Group B segment as the battle for promotion reges on.

Ila Orangun drew first blood in the 39th minute through Jude Ilebahah who struck home from close range following a goalmouth scramble.

The home team held on to their one goal lead at half time, but were unable to contain the rampaging Shooting Stars in the second stanza.

Shooting Stars took control of affairs on resumption, bombarding the defence-line of Ila at will, and it was only a matter of time before the visitors grabbed the much-sought leveller.

After another foray into the opponents’ half, Dolapo Omotayo capitalized on a defensive slip to ram in the equalizing goal for 3SC on 53 minutes.

After this goal it became more of a balanced game, with the fairly large crowd having a lot to cheer about.

Shooting Stars, whose next game is a top-of-the-table clash at home to Delta Force,.  have now collected 17 points from a total of nine matches.
