Shooting Stars have engaged the services of eight new players ahead of the second half of the season which commences on Sunday against FC Ebedei in Ijebu-Ode.
The new players include Anambra United left back Okwudiri Ihekwoaba, Daniel Osuata, a centre back from Crown FC and OUK United defender Meshack Chukwubuikem.
Others are Emmanuel Ikhimim from Sunshine Stars, Cardiff Academy’s Sola Abotade, Diran Oyelade of 3SC’s Feeder Team, Madu Chibuzor of Active Soccer Academy and Kolu United’s Ifeanyi Yongo.
3SC General Manager Mutiu Adepoju made this disclosure in Ibadan on Wednesday as the team prepared for the crucial away encounter against FC Ebedei.
“We have taken advantage of the mid-season transfer window to register eight new players to beef up our present squad.
“This move, we hope, will bring out the best in the team as we mount a serious campaign for promotion,” said the Nigeria ex-international.
3SC was the first team to win continental laurels for Nigeria , and the team has produced several legends amongst them Segun Odegbami, the late Muda Lawal, Rashidi Yekini and others.
The former African champions presently sit in third place in the Group B log behind Dolphins and Delta Force as the promotion race gathers momentum.
Ironically, two out of the eight newly-signed players, Madu Chibuzor and Daniel Osuata were former members of the Shooting Stars feeder team during the 2005/2006 season.
