3SC apologise to referee      Posted on Thursday,Dec. 17th 2009

The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan has appealed to Edo State based centre referee Mr. Okobi for the harsh criticism he received from 3SC’s fans and officials over the goal he disallowed against Kwara United.

Kwara United and Shooting Stars played to a goalless draw in a Glo premiership encounter in Ilorin last Saturday, but the visitors felt cheated after the ref disallowed what looked like a legitimate goal by 3SC striker Lekan Agunloye.

In a statement signed by Shooting Stars’ Media Officer Jubril Arowolo, the club made a passionate plea to Mr. Okobi over reports that suggested he may have been biased in his officiating.

Management regrets the said report, and affirms that it was not intended to malign the integrity and personality of Mr. Okobi, a respected member of the Nigeria Referees Association. Shooting Stars sincerely regret the embarrassment it may have caused him, the statement concluded.
